Challenge

The Riyadh International Philosophy Conference sought to establish Saudi Arabia as a center for intellectual and philosophical discourse, elevating the Kingdom's cultural standing on a global platform. The primary challenge was to generate significant local, regional, and international interest in the event, ensuring that it stood out among other high-profile global conferences. The goal was to drive awareness, media coverage, and engagement through a comprehensive communications strategy that spanned the conference's lifecycle and change the local perception towards philisophy.

Solution provided

We developed a comprehensive, multichannel communications strategy designed to generate awareness and drive engagement across a wide audience spectrum. The strategy was structured around three core pillars: Pre-event awareness: Building anticipation and credibility through targeted audience mapping, content development, and building local, regional, and global media interest. Live conference coverage: Utilizing real-time engagement tactics, including preparation of key philosophers and scholars for live interviews to ensure the conference maintains a strong media presence. Post-event amplification: Continuing to engage media outlets with post-event content, including interviews, thought leadership pieces, and summaries of key discussions. We also ensured a global outreach by leveraging international media, promoting the event on platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, while collaborating with academic publications to reach scholarly audiences.

Execution

The campaign utilized a multichannel approach that involved: Live conference coverage: Throughout the conference, we facilitated real-time updates, conducted interviews with leading thinkers, and hosted panel discussions that were live-streamed and shared across social platforms, further cementing the conference’s importance as a cornerstone platform for philosophy in Saudi Arabia, the region, and globally. Media partnerships: Collaborations with high-profile international media outlets, including Le Monde, The Guardian, and Al Arabiya, ensured wide coverage across many continents. Bespoke press releases: We distributed a series of targeted press releases prior to the conference locally, regionally, and internationally, highlighting its significance and its speakers. Post-event: We continued the conversation by distributing a detailed post-event report, publishing key insights from the conference, and engaging audiences via follow-up articles and interviews.

Results

Through our strategic efforts, the commission observed a significant increase in positive sentiment, particularly highlighting the intellectual contributions from thought leaders and participants, as well as Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing global philosophical dialogue.
